Health Equity Manager

The National WIC Association (NWA), located in Washington, DC, seeks a full-time Health Equity Manager to join its diverse team of sixteen dedicated professionals.
NWA is a high-impact non-profit, member organization that represents more than 2,000 service provider agencies that offer quality nutrition education, breastfeeding support, health care and other social referral services to at-risk women and young children in over 10,000 WIC clinics nationwide.
For the National WIC Association, health equity is the ability of all individuals and families to achieve optimal health, irrespective of their identity, race, ability or class. This requires equitable access to nutritious foods, breastfeeding support, chronic disease prevention and management services, safe living environments, and good jobs with fair pay. It necessitates removing obstacles to families’ short- and long-term health and wellbeing including poverty, discrimination, and institutional racism and other forms of bias expressed through housing, healthcare, education, labor, and other public policies.
The Health Equity Manager is responsible for driving a portfolio of work that includes developing initiatives and resources that support NWA members, management and staff to apply an equity, diversity and inclusion lens to their work and engage with promising practices that promote equitable access to WIC services.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Develops an annual equity, diversity and inclusion work plan that includes special projects and health equity programming
Identifies, monitors, and communicates best practices for eliminating health disparities, promoting cultural competence, and engaging communities served by WIC to NWA staff and members with the aim to improve the WIC participant experience and increase recruitment and retention of WIC participants.
Project manages grant funded community initiatives the promote health equity within WIC.
Serves as a subject matter expert around health equity issues and the spokesperson for NWA.
Bachelor’s of Science or Arts degree, preferably in public health, public administration or other related field and 8+ years of experience working in community-based programs, project management and/or grants administration; or a Master’s degree in public health or related field and 5+ years related work experience. Strong, demonstrated commitment to advancing racial and health equity a must. Ability to organize work and conceptualize as well as prioritize objectives is required. Must possess strong oral /written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills, proven leadership skills.

Associate or Full Professor, Tenure Track Regular Title Series

We are seeking a senior (Associate or Full Professor) research-focused faculty member for a tenured or tenure track, Regular Title Series, full time (12 month) position in the Center for Health Equity Transformation (CHET) in the College of Medicine at the University of Kentucky. We seek a health equity research leader with a dynamic, productive research agenda that aims
to eliminate inequities in cancer, cardiovascular disease, dementia and other related neurological conditions, diabetes and obesity, substance use, or other health conditions. CHET is a transdisciplinary research and training center focused on developing the most innovative and impactful research and training portfolio. This position is part of a university--wide
interdisciplinary cluster hire in health equity.
Candidates will have a focus on rural, racial/ethnic, and other populations experiencing health inequities; leadership and administrative experience; expertise in research mentorship, and capacity to contribute to a vibrant environment of scholars from the behavioral sciences, public health, social sciences, communication, health services research, biomedical informatics, health sciences (nursing, medicine, nutrition, etc.), and others. Special emphasis is placed on intervention, dissemination, and implementation scientists with an NIH-funded research portfolio. postdoctoral scholars, including mentorship programs, workshops, and supervised research. As a comprehensive and collaborative campus, the faculty member is expected to engage in broader research and training initiatives across all 16 Colleges of the University of Kentucky, including Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Public Health, Nursing, Communication and
Information Sciences, Health Sciences, etc. These initiatives include grant consultation and review; a dynamic speaker series and other enriching events; pilot project competitions; and outreach to the lay public.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent in Behavioral Sciences, Public Health, Social Sciences, Communication, Health Services Research, Bioinformatics, Health Sciences, or other related fields and be eligible for appointment at an Associate or Full Professor rank.

Appointment or promotion to associate professor shall be made only after a candidate has met the criteria for assistant professor and has demonstrated high scholarly achievements commensurate with an assignment in the areas of: (1) research as demonstrated by grantsmanship, publications, presentations, and other activities; (2) training, mentoring, and other instructional activities; (3) professional, university and public service. An indication of continuous improvement and research contributions should be evident as documented by the candidate. Further, the individual should have earned external recognition for excellence in scholarly activities. This recognition should be on a national level as appropriate to the field of

The Department of Health and Human Development in the University of Pittsburgh School of Education seeks a colleague with expertise in the social determinants of health and wellbeing in Black communities. This scholar and educator would position our School and our Department as a key partner in health, wellness, and wellbeing of Black communities in Pittsburgh and across the region. This position is part of a University-wide cluster hire and retention initiative centered on race and social determinants of equity and wellbeing. This scholar will have opportunities to be a significant part of transforming our Healthy Lifestyle Institute (HLI), and further opportunities to collaborate with other community-engaged centers such as the School’s Center for Urban Education and Office of Child Development, as well as Pitt’s Community Engagement Centers. We seek a scholar whose work is rooted in community-engaged (e.g., participatory) research methods and brings critical perspectives on race, social determinants of equity and wellbeing, and health in Black communities. We see this position as directly aligned with the School of Education mission/vision to “forge, participate in, and/or support research-practice partnerships and community-engaged initiatives” and “ignite learning, pursue and produce knowledge, and advance educational excellence.”
