Evaluation Manager (Remote Position)

Brief Description:

The Evaluation Manager is responsible for managing the design and implementation of effective evaluation and needs assessment activities across the organization. The successful candidate will be a motivated self-starter who is interested in program evaluation, analysis, and data systems in a mission-driven organization. They will be a systems-level thinker with the ability to initiate program evaluation inquiries, critically analyze data, assess outcomes, and provide recommendations to management to improve programmatic delivery and effectiveness. The position also requires exceptional interpersonal skills to work with, train, and support staff in data collection and entry and to support and advise senior management with strategic initiatives. They will approach all aspects of the work with an equity mindset and have strong analytical, project management, reporting, and communications skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Working closely with the Senior Director for Evaluation & Data, lead the development and implementation of evaluation strategies, processes, and systems for measuring the reach and impact of programs and initiatives.
• Evaluation Planning
o Participate in and provide support to project design activities, including development of project theories of change, logic models, and conceptual frameworks.
o Develop Monitoring and Evaluation plans, inclusive of engaging stakeholders in the evaluation planning.
o Establish performance metrics and impact indicators that align with Healthier Generation’s Strategic Framework.
o Provide support to fundraising and program staff for proposal development, including monitoring and evaluation components.
o Develop effective communication frameworks to share evaluation plans and findings with internal and external stakeholders.
• Day-to-Day Monitoring and Evaluation Activities
o Develop data collection plans and monitoring systems.
o Design program monitoring and data collection tools.
o Monitor project activities, outputs, and progress towards anticipated goals.
o Work with data platforms, databases and select technologies to capture and organize data.
o Train internal and external staff in monitoring and evaluation processes and provide ongoing support and assistance.
o Conduct or provide support to data quality audits.
o Manage third party evaluators and contracts that support the evaluation of Healthier Generation initiatives.
• Analysis and Reporting
o Clean, sort, categorize and organize data.
o Analyze quantitative and qualitative data.
o Summarize findings.
o Develop monthly, quarterly and annual reports for internal and external stakeholders.
o Disseminate evaluation finding and project results to funders, internal staff, and other stakeholders.
o Create custom reports and presentations accompanied by strong data visualization and storytelling.
• Knowledge Management
o Provide support to fundraising and program staff for proposal development, including monitoring and evaluation components.
o Contribute to institutional learning processes.
o Track best practices in monitoring and evaluation.
o Conduct literature reviews and other research as needed to support program and evaluation development and contribute to the field of children’s health.
o Collaborate with academic and other researchers in writing publications and support Healthier Generation as a thought leader in the field of child health.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Ability to transform evaluation results into actionable improvements in program delivery and design.
• Ability to conduct literature reviews; review and synthesize scientific literature to support programmatic efforts.
• Knowledge of best practices in data visualization.
• Proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and SPSS (or other statistical analysis software).
• Proficiency with Customer Relation Management Systems (or other database management systems).
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of social determinants of health, health equity, and children’s health topics.
• Knowledge of SQL programming a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to work well both independently and as part of a virtual team.
• Entrepreneurial, flexible, and ability to be self-guided.
• Knowledge of best practices for evaluating program, policy, and public health or education outcomes.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
• Ability to travel occasionally (approximately 10%) within the United States, as safe to do so.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Master’s Degree in Public Health, Evaluation, Epidemiology, or a related field required.
• At least 3 years demonstrated experience in research or evaluation including: developing evaluation plans; overseeing and conducting data collection and analyses; ensuring data quality using evaluation results to inform programmatic decisions and demonstrate programmatic impact.
• Experience in conducting evaluation or research to measure intended outcomes and answer evaluation and learning objectives, including developing appropriate methodologies and data collection tools, such as assessments, surveys, and interview guides.
• Experience with community-based participatory research or evaluation.
• Experience in performing quantitative analysis using statistical software packages, such as SPSS, Stata, or SAS required.
• Experience in implementing qualitative data collection and analysis.
• Experience with program evaluation and data management in a non-profit or community setting.
• Experience with Excel and data visualization software.
• Project management experience strongly preferred.

Assistant or Associate Professor of Public Health Nutrition

Brief Description:

The Department of Nutrition at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health (HSPH) seeks candidates
for the position of assistant or associate professor in public health nutrition. This is a tenure-ladder
position, with the academic rank to be determined in accordance with the successful candidate's
experience and productivity. The successful applicant will be expected to develop a leading research program on the translation of nutrition and public health knowledge into policy, programs, and practice. The search committee
welcomes applications from individuals with a broad range of relevant scholarship and experience in
nutrition and related areas, including economics, exercise science and social and behavioral sciences.

Postdoctoral Fellowship

Brief Description:

Dr. Nicole Zarrett is accepting applications for a full-time Postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Psychology at the University of South Carolina. The fellow will work with the PI and her multidisciplinary team of collaborators on a large NIH-funded randomized control trial “Connect through PLAY” (Connect), a staff-based intervention that works with afterschool
programs across the state of South Carolina to promote healthy behaviors among adolescents and program staff within underserved communities. The Fellow will provide analytic and methodological oversight for on-going projects, contribute to the planning and execution of data analyses, prepare and submit manuscripts, write grant proposals, and develop an
independent program of research related to child/adolescent and/or adult health promotion. Candidates with a research interest/focus in health behavior and physical and mental health disparities research (adult and youth), community-based research, motivational and behavioral-change theory, statistics, and/or implementation science are encouraged to apply.

Assistant Director

The Assistant Director has responsibility for promoting the mission and core values of the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation (ZSR or the Foundation) by overseeing the implementation of the Foundation’s Framework for Grantmaking and Learning. This includes, but is not limited to, helping Trustees identify programmatic priorities, playing leadership roles within the state of North Carolina and within the broader field of philanthropy, actively listening to and learning from people and communities across the state, and coordinating the programmatic and grantmaking operations of the Foundation as set out below. The Assistant Director supports the Executive Director in matters of Foundation operations, strategic planning, and general management. This person acts as a liaison between the Administrative and Program Staff and provides staff support to Trustee Committees as assigned. The Assistant Director is a pivotal member of the team, contributing to idea generation, strategic thinking, organizational networking, and collaborative team dynamics. The Assistant Director reports to the Executive Director and works cooperatively with all Foundation staff.
