Silos won't drive systemic change,
but collective action will.
but collective action will.
The Council on Black Health developed the Collective Action Plan with 75 health leaders from across the United States.
It outlines 13 strategies and 50+ tactics across research, policy, and practice to address our four issue areas: food access, healthcare delivery, mobile health clinics, and community solutions by 2028.
Right now is a particularly critical moment in our pursuit of turning the curve on health inequities in Black communities.
Conversations are not enough, and silos won’t solve our most pressing issues, food insecurity, chronic illness, and a maternal mortality rate that plagues Black women regardless of income or education.
Black American continue to face health disparities across virtually every major indicator, and with the Supreme Court’s recent decision in Louisiana v. Callais, which threatens to strip millions of Black Americans of their right to shape their own futures, the health equity gap risks widening drastically. This moment demands coordinated, cross-sector action.
That is where the Council on Black Health meets the gap. Our work is organized across three integrated domains, Research, Policy, and Practice, making us uniquely equipped to facilitate connection between those best positioned to drive tangible change.
In March 2026, we brought together 75 researchers, practitioners, community leaders, and advocates in Houston for a workshop dedicated to deep reimagination and real-time problem-solving. The result is the Collective Action Plan, a unified national roadmap featuring 13 strategies and 50+ tactics designed to address root causes and reach key targets by 2028.
If you and your organization are ready to put your unique capabilities into action, we invite you to become a CBH member and join the collective that is executing this plan.
Now you know where we’re going. For those interested in our journey, review our 2024–2026 plan to see the strategies that shaped this next chapter.
